In 1969 I began working on travel films for Royal Dutch Airlines. At times, filming and photography was done in Holland – mostly in Amsterdam, and other times on location in Israel and Europe.

In the early 1970’s I got my first big corporate film production contract from a Dutch textile machinery builder. This well managed company sent me all over the world to tell the story of textile printing from the Dutch point of view. Because of the necessity of many meetings to be held in Holland I traveled frequently there. During my visits I met with and became friendly with many different people, in the arts and business. I am quite fond of the Dutch, in general. They tend to be well educated as a whole since they have to learn at least three other languages besides Dutch. It was made clear to me that practically no one speaks Dutch outside of Holland, except for some people who live in Indonesia, which was once a Dutch colony.

Because Holland itself is a small country I got to see a lot of it! I always had a camera around my neck, loaded with Kodak Tri-X or Plus-X film. Before I realized, I had gathered quite a collection of my photographic impressions of this wonderful country. Instead of writing, I used my camera to create a sort of sporadic diary. For almost two decades I was drawn into the life of the Netherlands, as it is formally known.
